But seriously growing your own vegetables is a fun activity. I have not done groceries in the last few months (exceptions being junk fast food, yoghurt etc). We grow vegetables all year round. In fact we have excess of most vegetables we grow. Try it, its a lot of fun!
And good luck to all EB2 and EB3 folks - we've seen good EB2 movement and we hope we'll see more movements in both EB2 and EB3 in the days to come. Till then, Happy gardening!!

You need to dig the soil, mix with top soil or garden soil and cultivate it. Every week fertilize it. This is my first year gardening. I have around 3000 square ft of back yard. i do not know what to do with that. I cannot maintain Lawn in back yard. So I decided to grow vegetables.
I am eagerly waiting for my fall garden..I am planning to grow tulips,beets,cilantro,carrots,potato,peas etc., If I can get same space for garden In India and work place just 3 miles from home , I can happily go back to India.

The world of politics is driven by numbers; you do not have enough numbers to get any lawmaker interested. So wake up Macacas, admit it, you all are bunch of losers.
So far as the skills are concerned, you have been harping on the theme that you are highly skilled? If the definition of highly skilled is a mere undergrad degrees then 75% of Adult Americans are highly skilled. I bet not even 5% of you have PHDs and you call yourself highly skilled. Huhhh
And this for the leadership of your organization: You are wasting your time. If you are so desperate to get green cards contact me. The sheriffs dept took her to the hospital to ensure that in case there is any complication, things could be take care of. Why? Because its the law and the majority in this country respect the law. No one, even illegals, can be denied emergent care. This would not happen if she were in Mexico or India. No free medical care there, and no one gives a shit about the rights of prisoners there. So what happens next? This woman, WHO HAS NO BUSINESS BEING IN THIS COUNTRY, goes to her advocacy group who arrange to have an article in the news that tries to portray this as if the sheriff forced her to deliver in a prison. This is all to garner sympathy for the illegal immigrant. We should know better and see through their guile. The illegal lobby is the main reason why there is no chance for meaningful reform for legal immigrants to be passed. They insist on linking us to them.
If every one decides to choose for themselves which law they will obey and which they will ignore, society can not exist. And as I pointed out in my previous post, this woman has a history of repeated violations of the law and is NOT a victim that this biased article tries to portray her as.

I have been with the same employer since Jan 2004, and have every pay stub since then. However during some time in 2006, the company was in deep trouble, management takeover etc. and we were only paid for time spent on a major project (which was the cash cow). Because i was not directly involved in it, I was paid at about 50%, but every week, which lead my final W2 for 2006 to be around 76% of the total on the LCA. I looked at my paystubs and the total weeks at less than 100% is 5 months.
For 2004, 2005 and 2007 (on course) I am on course for my full salary. Also I got a bonus and stock options as the project took off and we are all in a better shape and my 2007 W2 should be higher.
Before 2004, I was a student on a F1 (MS degree) with one h1 in the bad days of 2002. However, my change of status was on the dot.. i.e. i got laid off on a friday and i filed my change of status to f1 the same day. My h1 visa was stamped in 2004 in India. My H1 was extended in early 2007
I am filing a self-sponsored I140. So, my question is:
1) Should I wait for 2008/whenever to file my i485 and hopefully show one year w2 and try to see if that goes through?
2) Try to convince my employer to pay me the back wages for 2006 (they may agree) in lieu of some future pay cut or paid out vacation or trade my stock options. File an amended return with a new 2006 W2 (what are the risks of an audit??)
3) Try to wait till 2008, stamp my visa extension and then file for i-485 showing only 2007 w2.

Please see one of the replies I have above in response to another post. You employer could not pay you, but it is not your fault. If a RFE comes up, you can file affidavits to that effect. You have to consult a good lawyer.
If you are not going to be leaving the US, you shouldn't have to worry about the H1 stamp because you should be getting a new I-94 with your H1 extension approval notice.

As some folks have posted on another thread, the USCIS is finally getting around to consolidating all their applications in a single database.
Maybe our letters and posters didn't fall on deaf ears after all! ;)
I hope so, we just have to wait to see when that will come into effect, perm took more than a couple of years to come into effect and what happened after??.. all the pending applications at that time was pushed to the BEC black hole...

You can do that and IV (core or its members) will not bite at you, because we know we are all part of the same movement, with the same frustrations, pain and stress associated with uncertainty. What is really needed is channelling the frustration toward action, mobilization and support at the grass roots.
The opposition is strong. But if we are to succeed, we need to work together. IV work is not easy. Takes time, commitment and money. Lots of people have been trying to do it for a long long time now. But circumstances and uncertainty/unpredictability associated with the legislature and governmental agency(ies) have always been the deterrent for IV's success.
Reversal of July 07 VB, multi-year EAD, Extended OPT etc. - IV has played significant roles. Under tough circumstances, IV has been able to obtain temporary measures that provide interim relief to you and posterity.
The day will come when retrogression will become history. But nobody knows what the calendar date of that day is. I surely hope that the day falls in 2008.
As a start, have you looked at the High-Five campaign started by a IV member? Please donate $5 for that campaign. That is the least you can do.

Even during the recess, we were talking to the staff of a ton of senators. Most of the time the senators' staff are interested only if someone from 'their constituency' is also affected. We always say we have a ton of folks from each state, but nothing works like a real example.
For example, when we speak to say Senator Kennedy, it helps us to present the story of folks affected by retrogression and living in say Boston, MA. That way, the staff has some incentive to look into this and get hooked immediately.
Since time is short this time, we need all the stories from each state to make our case.
As promised, we will not reveal your story to media if you do not want to.
Though there is no harm to reveal one's name in media as can be noticed by the folks featured in the Roll Call article, Philly Inquirer and News Observer.
We will just concentrate on the crux how you are suffering because of delays such that even if your boss reads this story, he will not be offended or put off (Read our members stories in the three articles I have mentioned, none of it can get the IV members in any trouble at all).
At the same time we understand that you might have reasons to remain out of media and we will fully respect that.
But please send in your stories so we have a convincing story to make our case.....

I did write my story and then reread your first post, then thought to myself: my story is just similar to that Italian lady! The only thing different is she probably would have gotten her green card without much trouble, unlike my process.

Yes, I have applied for H1-B under master's quota PP on the 3rd of April but have not recd any receipt notification...don't panic am sure we will hear something in the next 2 weeks...
but the deadline for processing premium processing cases is tomorrow (4/27). By tomorrow we should ideally be receiving the approval notifications and not still waiting for the receipt notice....
